What to track in 7v7 girls flag football
The 7v7 girls format produces more touches per game than smaller formats, so the stat list is broader.
- Passing. Completions, attempts, completion percentage, passing yards, passing touchdowns, interceptions, sacks taken.
- Rushing. Carries, rushing yards, longest run, rushing touchdowns. Rushing eligibility varies by state association, so use the rushing columns only if your ruleset allows it.
- Receiving. Receptions, receiving yards, yards per reception, receiving touchdowns.
- Defense. Flag pulls, interceptions, interception return touchdowns, pass breakups, sacks, forced fumbles.
- Conversions. 1-point and 2-point PATs by half.
- Team. Score by half, turnovers committed, turnovers forced.
For the full list of categories and why each one matters, see Flag Football Stats: What Coaches Should Track.
How to use the sheet during a game
- Fill the roster grid before kickoff with jersey numbers.
- Tally completions and attempts in the passing block as throws happen.
- Use the receiver row when the pass is caught. Touchdowns get a check in the TD column.
- Defense is the easiest section to forget. Pick one parent or assistant to own it.
- Confirm first downs with a tally. Field position is not on the sheet.
- At halftime, scan the sheet and fill any gaps while the half is fresh.
- After the game, total each column and write the final score across the top.
Why an app is better for live stats and season totals
Paper sheets work for one game. They struggle across a season.
- The math has to happen after the game. Completion percentage, yards per attempt, and team totals all require a calculator.
- Season totals require a spreadsheet that someone has to maintain.
- Defense is the hardest category to log fast with a pen.
- Sharing with parents and athletic directors is slow.
A purpose-built stat app fixes all of that. For the full comparison, read Flag Football Stat Sheet vs Stat App: What Coaches Should Use.
