• Defense gets dropped. Flag pulls, sacks, interceptions, and pass breakups are the hardest stats to log on paper while watching the opponent's offense.
• The math happens later, or never. Completion percentage, yards per attempt, and points per drive only show up when someone sits down with a calculator after the game.
• Season totals require a spreadsheet. Each paper sheet has to be entered somewhere to roll up into a season record.
• Sharing is slow. A photo of a clipboard is not what parents are hoping for after a game.
• First downs get lost. First downs are confirmed manually. On paper, that means a tally column most coaches forget.
