    Texas girls flag football

Texas girls flag football rules, and how to score them in StatHawk

Texas high school girls play a spring season under USA Football’s 7v7 rulebook: a 50-yard field, drives from your own 5 and one first down at midfield. StatHawk has no Texas rule set, so start from 7v7 Girls High School and change a few settings before your first game. Then score every play from the sideline.

Set up StatHawk for Texas rules

StatHawk doesn’t have a Texas rule set. Choose 7v7 Girls High School with the NFHS Girls Flag rule set, then make these changes on the How do you play? screen.

StatHawk team setup with the NFHS rule set
    1. Under Field & first downs, choose Change field. Pick 50-yard zones first, then Midfield only. That gives you the 50-yard field with one first down at midfield, and four downs to get there and four more to score.
    2. Open Restarts and set all four spots to your own 5: the start of each half, after a score, after a safety and a touchback.
    3. Open Points & tries and move the 1-point try from the opponent’s 3 to the 5. The 2-point try is already at the 10. Texas makes the 1-point try a pass, so score it as one.
    4. Under Periods, choose Halves. Under Punting, choose Off. Texas has no punts: a team that doesn’t cross midfield gives up the ball, and the other team starts at its own 5.
    5. Open Overtime and turn on Play overtime. Make OT 1 a series from the opponent’s 25, which is midfield. Add a round, make it Tries, keep only the 1-point choice from the 5 and turn on Pass only. The last round repeats until there’s a winner.

From USA Football’s 7v7 High School Rulebook, which the Cowboys and Texans both post. The 7-second pass clock, the blitz rules and the 30-point mercy rule are for the officials and don’t change how you score.

StatHawk makes a MaxPreps-ready player stat file after each final in a high school season. If your school’s girls flag team has a MaxPreps page you manage in Team Admin, you can import it there.

    Questions from Texas coaches

Not yet. In June 2026 the UIL directed its staff to develop an implementation plan and survey superintendents, and a girls flag football report is on the Legislative Council’s October 18–19, 2026 agenda. Any change the council passes needs the Commissioner of Education’s approval before it takes effect.
