For NFL FLAG league operators

Score your NFL FLAG league in StatHawk, free.

NFL FLAG gives operators the program, the rules and the tools to register and schedule. It doesn't give you play-by-play stats or box scores for league games. StatHawk does, for every game in your league: set up a 5v5 division for each age group, invite a volunteer to score each field, and standings and stats update for both teams.

What NFL FLAG gives you today, and what's missing

NFL FLAG leagues are independently run by local operators: parks and rec departments, YMCAs, NFL club programs and private organizers. Here's what the program gives them.

    ToolWhat it does
League CentralSeasons, divisions, insurance, payments and orders
MatrixScheduling, player data and background checks
Sports ConnectRegistration, at a discount for operators
MOJOPractice plans and drills for coaches (owned by TeamSnap)
NFL FLAG Tournaments appSchedules, brackets and pool standings at tournaments

None of these records a league game play by play, so there are no player stats or box scores, and many operators still post standings as a table or a PDF by hand. That's the part StatHawk does. Keep the rest of your setup as it is.

The NFL FLAG rules your scorer needs

From the NFL FLAG Official Playing Rules (revised March 24, 2025). Your league may adjust some of them, so check your operator's version.

In StatHawk, start each division from 5v5 Standard Youth. It already uses NFL FLAG's downs and the 1-point try from the 5. Its 2-point try starts at the 12, so set it to the 10 under the division's Points & tries. Your scorer records what happens on every play, including passes in the no-run zones.

    How the younger divisions differ

NFL FLAG's rules change for the youngest players. In 8U and younger divisions there are no no-run zones in league play and no pass rush unless there's a handoff. In 7U and 6U, a coach can stay on the field during the play.

Score policy for young players is set locally. Roanoke, VA, which plays NFL FLAG and NFHS rules, keeps no score for ages 5 to 6. Gardena, CA, whose rules are based on the NFL FLAG rulebook, keeps no score or standings in grades 1 to 2. Leesburg, VA's NFL FLAG league posts standings from its 6 to 7 division up. If your youngest divisions don't keep score, you can start using StatHawk at the age where you begin, or use it for those divisions' schedule and for families following along.

Set up your NFL FLAG league in StatHawk

    1. 1Create the league in the StatHawk app and add a division for each age group, each starting from 5v5 Standard Youth.
    2. 2In each division's rules, set the 2-point try to the 10 under Points & tries.
    3. 3Add teams and rosters, then the schedule from Matrix: date, time, division and the two teams for each game.
    4. 4Invite your scorers by email: volunteer parents, coaches from teams that aren't playing, or staff. Any scorer can score any game, so each field can have its own.
    5. 5Share your League Code with families so they can follow the schedule, live games, scores and standings.

Game day: one scorer per field, stats for both teams

A scorer opens the game from the schedule and scores it play by play with both rosters loaded, so both teams get full player stats from one phone. When a play needs a player, such as the defender who pulled the flag, the scorer picks from the right team. When the game ends, the division's standings update.

Standings with the numbers your tiebreakers use

Each division's standings show wins, losses, ties, points for, points against and point differential. Those are the numbers NFL FLAG tiebreakers use: at NFL FLAG tournaments, ties are broken by fewest losses, most wins, head-to-head, points against and then points for, and Leesburg's league uses head-to-head and then points against.

    Your results, ready to share

Staff can export a box score PDF and a player stats CSV for every final, plus division exports. NFL FLAG's league terms ask leagues to share their results and statistics with the program when it asks, and having every game already recorded makes that quick.

    Families follow free

Share your League Code and families see the schedule, live games, scores, standings and box scores. They can't change anything, and player names show as first name and last initial by default.
